Lava action back on Big Island

Pele is showing off on the Big Island again. Volcano House in Volacano National Park is closed down, but Halema’uam’u crater is glowing red and smoking away.Kalapana is on the alert for new lava tongues and the previous lava viewing area is now under a new flow.New Video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xc_GCHK9Ro&feature=digest

Hawaii Health Guide supports Acupuncturists without Borders Hawaii- Nepal

Hawaii Acupuncturists and community members recently met for a fundraising dinner at Himalayan Kitchen to support this upcoming acupuncture trauma clinic training in Nepal. Katherine Fisher, co-founder of Hawaii Health Guide will be coming from Hawaii assisting in this training.The community is invited to contribute and support this model of health care outreach and this the worthy work of this international organization.

Benefit Fundraiser for Auntie Nahi Guzman

Auntie Nahi Guzman has touched many hearts from around the world with her spirit of Aloha, sharing her wisdom and knowledge of unconditional love. She has been recently diagnosed with terminal cancer.

 As a Kapuna, Reverend, Kumu, Shaman and Medicine woman she has both taught and healed many in the ancient practices of Hawaiian and North American Indian traditions, including lomi lomi, Ho’oponono, shamanism and the ancient Hawaiian Huna traditions. Raised on Maui, Nahi started doing healing work at the age of 4 learning from her grandmother, Ambrosia, her first teacher. She has been a pillar of the Hawaiian community for the past 30 years.

Now it is our turn to help Auntie Nahi

Two benefit events are scheduled on Maui, and direct donations are also welcomed via mail or paypal (see info below).

Community Gathering: July 11 at Studio Maui from 6 to 10PM.
Please join with Marty Dread, Lei’ohu Ryder, Alan Cohen, Wesley Furumoto, Keaolani, Mele Mo’o Land Band, Robin Youngblood and George Kahumoku to let the healing begin, There will be music, dancing, food, lots of fun and a silent auction.

Kalalau Valley Closure Announced for Sept 2010

June 15th, 2010

Kalalau Valley, the poster child of Kaua‘i’s visitor industry and wilderness recreation, is expected to temporarily close by the beginning of September.The state Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Parks is planning major rockfall mitigation work on the south end of Kalalau Beach, which will require the entire valley to be closed for at least two months.

Legislation Reform in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine News

How Will Health Care Reform Affect Health Psychologists and Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Practitioners?Reform expands coverage for acupuncturists and standardizes reimbursement for their services.How? Most importantly, the legislation:• Recognizes the health care field in the U.S. as inclusive of licensed complementary and alternative medicine providers and integrative health practitioners (acupuncturists are licensed in 44 states).• Introduces non-discrimination language, which prohibits third-party payers from self-determining reimbursement strictly based on the licensed status of a provider (e.g.a dentist, acupuncturist, naturopathic doctor, etc.).
