HMAA set to become 2nd largest health Insurance in Hawaii

Hawaii Medical Assurance Association announced it plans to buy the fully insured health insurance membership of Summerlin Life and Health Insurance Hawaii. If the deal is approved state Insurance Division, the aquisition will create the state’s second-largest preferred-provider health insurer.

Midway Island Lead a deadly mix for Albatross chicks

Despite being located in the National Wildlife Refuge, the Laysan Albatross nesting grounds at Midway are a lethal nesting ground for over 130,000 Laysan Albatross chicks since jurisdiction of Midway was transferred from the Navy to the Department of the Interior (DOI) in 1996. The chicks are dying from lead exposure.
